The Winklevoss Twins Failed to Create Facebook, Now They are Failing on Their Latest App

I wouldn’t mind the Winklevoss twins if they could manage to create something useful. They failed to create Facebook, they failed to win a medal at the Olympics, and they are now failing at creating an app for Crypto.

The app is called Gemini, a clever name for an app created by twins, and it’s supposed to be a competitor to Coinbase. I tried Coinbase a year ago and didn’t like it because of the high transaction fees, up to 10% just to transfer money in and out of the app and between coins. It’s a joke that the main idea of crypto currency, decentralization, is being used by the wealthy to take more money from the poor. The currency may be decentralized, but the wealthy control access to it. These apps are supposed to be a place the rest of us can easily buy and trade crypto currency. At least, that’s the ideas.

So I downloaded Gemini. After an over an hour of frustration in trying to buy some bitcoin, I gave up. But not before I found some major flaws with the app. For starters, they use Plaid to link your bank account, which works just fine. But then it doesn’t show up when you go to fund your…
